“In the front row, the crocodiles, then the donkey … and the goddesses.” That is the intriguing title of an exhibition of the work of Sicilian sculptor Girolamo Ciulla that opened in Milan in June. Soon, one of Ciulla’s crocodiles will be on its way to Newport News, part of a sculpture to be installed along a walking and bike trail the City is building along Warwick Boulevard at the edge of Museum Park. Crocodiles and other mythological elements are staples of Ciulla’s work.
